Charley Drew

Lately we have been getting comments about how Charley Drew at daycare and John Lleyton are like a little married couple. She was born one day before him, they were baptized together, and ended up in the same daycare as well. They really are two peas in a pod and very alike in a lot of ways.

The girls at school say Charley "gives it to JL" and "Jl just takes it". Makes you wonder if I am too bossy at home :)

I have seen these two in action and they can press each others buttons like the classic married couple or the best of siblings. They decided at daycare they might not need to get married because Charley would be Charley Brown. I said "um, no, that is what hyphens are for"....becuase we really like Charley's parents.

Potty training is in full bloom at our house. JL can stay dry all day and does great with the exception of # 2. We are not pushing potty training because we are just taking the laid back approach. When he's ready he's ready, but exposure and routine in the meantime is our rule.

Because of potty training and other things we are trying to reinforce, JL often has the chance to earn a sticker, a few pieces of organic m/m's, a sucker, a new toy/book, write with mommy's pens, etc. Well, lately he has become obsessed with wanting to show them all to Charley Drew.

Greg reports, each day how the morning drop off goes. This is usually a predictor of JL's day. the last week JL has cried before going in because Greg wont let him leave the car with one various object or another. They are usually random (a bag of nuts, pen, cell phone charger), but the other day it was a huge duck decoy. Finally, Greg asked him why he cried every time over this and why this was becoming such a huge deal. JL's response "I want to show Charley Drew"

Charley's dad is a huge hunter like Greg so we feel this would make him proud to want to show Charley a duck decoy :).

This morning, JL earned one skittle for taking all 6 of his meds without baulking. Of course, he wanted to show Charley Drew .....after he had licked all the color off and carried it in his hands for 20 minutes. I am sure she would have been delighted to see that right?
