Visit to Puerto Rico!

Kristy went to Puerto Rico for 5 days in January to visit Courtney. They have known each other for years and the visit was long overdue. Courtney showed her a great time and was a wonderful tour guide. What better way to see a place then with someone who knows it backward and forward?! Kristy flew into San Juan and they drove to Mayaguez where Courtney lives. She was able to see the whole island and only missed one thing: El Yunque. It is a rain forest there and is supposed to be beautiful. That will be save for the NEXT trip! Below are some facts about Puerto Rico as well as a brief description of some of the photos. Thanks to Courtney for being the photographer with her brand new fancy camera. Kristy's camera died ....too many beach trips! Fun facts and information about Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico is spanish for Rich Port. It is 100 miles long and 35 miles wide. That small area is home to 4 million people of which 1 million live in the Greater San Juan area. Puerto Rico has been a part of the US since 1898. They do not observe Daylight Savings Time. The weather there is perfect! It is 83 degrees in the 'winter' and 85 degrees in the summer. Puerto Rico is composed mainly of mountains, with sandy beaches in most of the coastal areas----very popular place to surf! Picture Guide: There are many beautiful flowers in Puerto Rico that we see in the states....they are just larger due to the tropical environment. Take a look at the canoe tree. Now this a tree every woman would love to have thier pic taken next to...it makes you look so small! The red door used to be the only way you could enter Puerto Rico. Now you can fly into San Juan where many cruise ships will port. The beaches are sand and very rocky. Watch out surfers...ouch! The water is very blue like the beaches of Mexico. Old San Juan is an old fort. Very expansive and colorful. There is also a massive above ground grave there for soldiers. Enjoy the pics!
